*Exceptional dining at award winning Blume Restaurant
featuring local produce and  a truly memorable experience.
* Breakfasts at Arthur Clives Bakery

DAY 1 Saturday 8 August
Walk: Ivory’s Rock Circuit, Peak Crossing. 8km Approx. 4hrs walking. Moderate grade.
Accom: Commercial Hotel, Boonah
Meals: Packed lunch / Dinner at Blume Restaurant

Our first walk is at Ivory’s Rock to the east of the township of Peak Crossing. We gather at Peak Mountain View Park and after a welcome and introductions it’s a short drive to the walk start at Ivory Rock Conference Centre.
This intriguing hike on private property takes us to the base of the prominent peaks. A loop track threads its way across the many-storied landscape beneath the rock features and to several lookouts with views across the forested valleys and beyond. It’s a great walk through geological epochs and different forest types. We’ll enjoy a packed lunch and a cuppa at the high point of the track before joining the fire trail for an easy return to our cars.
25-minutes south is Boonah where we settle in to the recently renovated rooms of the 121-year-old Commercial Hotel in the heart of town. This is country charm with modern conveniences and also home to the excellent Boonah Beer Co microbrewery. A short walk away is Blume Restaurant ~ an intimate degustation dining experience focusing on local produce with seasonal menus of unexpected and delightful flavoursome dishes. Named in 2026 Gourmet Traveller Top 100 Australian Restaurants and 2026 Australian Good Food Guide 14 Hats.

DAY 2 Sunday 9 August
Walk: Campbell’s Folly (Private Property) Approx. 4 hrs walking + lunch time. Off track peak walk with moderate + grade - rough, rocky terrain.
Trans: Private Car Pool (36km drive each way)
Accom: Commercial Hotel, Boonah
Meals: Breakfast at Arthur Clive’s Bakery / Packed Lunch / Dinner at the Commie Hotel

Some places are just magic and ‘The Rock’ property is one of them. Towering above the family home are tremendous cave-dotted cliffs, home to peregrine falcons, rock wallabies and many unique plant species. Geologically it’s part of the Mt Gillies Rhyolite unit, outliers to Mt Barney.
The approach is through rolling green paddocks with awe-inspiring views of Mt Lindesay from every angle. Making our way up the wooded western slope of the peak we eventually reach the top – and the wonderful vista. We return by the same route. There is no formed track on this walk. Expect it to be rough and vegetated. There are cliffs in abundance - you will be expected to stay with the group!!

DAY 3 Monday 10 August (Public EKKA Holiday Scenic Rim)
Walk: Off Track Waterfalls ... Main Range NP 5 - 8km / 5-6hrs
GRADE: Moderate +
Trans: Private Car Pool to Teviot Gap (45 km each way)
Meals: Breakfast at Arthur Clive’s Bakery / Lunch packed

Today we again leave the tracks behind and explore secluded places high on the Main Range. At 800m above sea level it's a little cooler under the rainforest canopy. Initially walking an old logging road through established forest and by some special places we step off the track and enter a gentle world, soft underfoot with towering trees and tendrils of green highlighted by shafts of sunlight.
Millennia of rainfall have carved streams through the Main Range basalt revealing incredible geology at waterfalls. This is country where major river systems begin and people have passed for thousands of years between the eastern coastal regions through to the Darling Downs and Bunya Mountains. In 1994 UNESCO World Heritage status was conferred across 30,170.5 ha of Scenic Rim National Parks. Our walk is a glimpse into the life that thrives beyond the tracks.

At the walk’s end we return to Boonah and say our farewells.

ABOUT OUR WALKS Our eco-interpreted bushwalks are open to anyone with an urge to get out and experience the magnificent Scenic Rim region – and beyond.

This is a guided group trek and natural history interpretation is an integral part of the guided experience. You are expected to stay with the group. These are NOT fast-paced races to a destination!    No drones please.

Our aim is to get out and explore the many facets of our amazing region, note the changes and develop a deeper understanding of the natural richness on our doorstep and, of course, walk with a wonderful group of like-minded bushwalkers.

The nature of the Scenic Rim terrain means that there are few ‘easy’ walks on graded trails. The majority of routes feature uneven ground and ascents and descents, often with rocky sections. The gradients are sometimes very steep. We always allow plenty of time to complete walks so that there is not the necessity to speed through walks or to feel you are not keeping up.

Come walking with Horizon Guides this season!
